Role Description and Expectations – Nightclub Security

General Summary: Nightclub security is an integral part of maintaining a safe environment for staff and customers at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country. Security staff works together to patrol, secure and identify risks throughout the club. This includes detecting suspicious behavior, preventing vandalism, preventing theft, checking IDs at the door, and assisting in setting up the nightclub for business.

 

Reports to: Director of Security 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all procedures within Stoney’s employee handbook.
  • Follow all Nevada liquor compliance laws and ordinances.
  • Obtain and maintain position-specific licensing.
  • Ensure all local health department regulations are understood and followed.
  • Patrol and secure assigned premises as well as identify risks to staff and patrons.
  • Detect suspicious behavior and prevent vandalism, theft or other criminal behavior.
  • Check IDs at the door, padding patrons and checking bags as needed before they enter the premises. Have the ability to recognize underage and fake IDs.
  • Inspire respect and authority, while being polite and having an understanding of hospitality and service.
  • Maintain order over the dance floor.
  • Watch over doors, gates and employee-only areas to ensure proper function and security
  • Apprehend and/or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Assist in monitoring surveillance cameras to identify disruptions or unlawful behavior.
  • Assist in managing the aesthetic of the club as needed.
  • Assist people in need.
  • Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.
  • Ensure alcohol state laws are followed.
  • Complete all additional listed side work for your shift and location.
  • Additional tasks, duties, and/or responsibilities as determined by managers.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or other related fields.
  • Familiar with security equipment.
  • Registered as a security officer/maintain a Sheriff card.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle physical workloads.
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
  • Familiarity with nightclub environments.
  • Trained in First Aid/BLS and self- defense.
  • Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
  •  

Certifications, Licenses and Regulations:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States – Driver’s License/ID card/US Passport/Resident Card, and Social Security Card.
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler Card, Alcohol Awareness/TAM Card, Craft Card (Pour Card), Las Vegas Metro Card (Non-Gaming), Gaming Control Board (if also working at Stoney’s North Forty).
  • Security Guard License from the Nevada Private Investigators Licensing Board.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of this role, employees may be exposed to loud noises, a lot of movement, people and stimuli. Employees may also be required load and unload inventory, where they may be exposed to outside weather conditions including (but not limited to) summer heat and winter cold. Although the interior space is air conditioned, there may be times when the temperature is warmer or colder inside based on the frequency with which doors are opened/closed and the number of people in the building changes. Noise levels may be higher during concerts, sound checks, and open club hours.
